Connecting the MobilePro to the Internet

Windows CE has built in Connectivity with an Internet service provider. It requires a PPP (Point to Point Protocol) account with an ISP.  SLIP accounts are not supported.  TCP/IP is the only protocol supported by Windows CE.

Getting Started
The end user will need to obtain the following from his ISP:

The ISP may provide an IP address if the end user has a dedicated IP address.

Create and Configure a new Configuration
  1. Tap the Start Button, Tap Programs, and then double-tap Communications.
  2. Double-Tap Remote Networking, and then double-tap Make New Connection
  3. Type the name of the ISP in the "Type a name for the connection" box, tap Dial up connection, and then tap Next.
  4. In the Select a modem box, tap on modem (make sure it is not the serial port) and then type the ISP's phone number in the space provided.
  5. If the ISP requires manually logging in to the account after the connection is made, tap Configure. On the port settings tab, tap the Use Terminal Window After Dialing check box so that it is selected, and then tap OK.
  6. Tap TCP/IP Settings. Enter the DNS server address and the proper settings for your IP address, and then tap OK. If the end user is unsure of these settings, contact the ISP.
  7. Tap Finish. Once the connection is created, an icon appears in the Remote Networking folder. Double-tap the icon to connect to the internet.
