Beginning March 11, 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) start and end dates have changed to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The new dates will be the second Sunday of March and end the first Sunday of November, extending the period by four (4) weeks.
NEC's family of Express5800 fault tolerant, general purpose and IA64 servers relies on the operating system for the system date and time. As such, the server hardware itself is not directly affected by the Daylight Saving Time changes. Patches for the relevant operating systems are available for download from the Microsoft® 2007 time zone update page; for general information on preparing for the time change visit the Microsoft DST Help and Support page.
The NEC S-Series storage products are also not impacted by the legislation. The S-Series storage arrays, by default, do not automatically adjust for DST. You must manually configure the products to adjust for the time change.
The NEC Storage Manager for the Microsoft Windows® operating system will be impacted by the new legislation as the time-based utilities use the system clock maintained by the operating system. For information on these systems, visit the Microsoft site provided above.
